Discerning Deacons 2026 Kick-off Call – Evening

Join us for the Discerning Deacons 2026 Kick-off Call!

Discerning Deacons seeks to contribute to the Church’s active discernment about the renewal of the diaconate while empowering Catholics to engage in their baptismal call to diakonia—Christlike service and witness to the Gospel for the sake of God’s kingdom.

In this one-hour call, we’ll cast a vision for where we’re going and the plan to get there. You’ll learn about a two-pronged pathway to protagonism with DD in 2026:

1. House Meeting Campaign: Host gatherings of 8-12 people to listen to the cries of the people and read the signs of the times. Our revised toolkit (informed by feedback from 33 pilot meetings reaching 297 people) includes a sharpened focus on baptismal diakonia and responding to the needs of our communities—with an invitation to contribute to the ongoing ecclesial discernment about the renewal of the diaconate.
2. Faithful Witness in the Public Arena: Exercise your baptismal diakonia by joining other Catholics in acts of public witness in defense of human dignity and God’s kingdom from Lent through Corpus Christi. As the Church discerns about the ministry of the diaconate, let’s make sure we’re also getting busy being agents of diakonia in the world.

This event will be offered on Tuesday, January 27 from 1-2 p.m. ET/10-11 a.m. PT and on Thursday, January 29 from 8-9 p.m. ET/5-6 p.m. PT. Register for either call at the link below.
